Itihaas

The exact age of the Janardhana Swamy temple is unknown. The known history for this temple started around 1755 when late vedic scholar Shri Vishnubhatla Yajnyanarayana Somayajulu was gifted the Chitram Agraharam by late Nuziveedu Zamindar Shri Meka Apparao Bahadur. At that time the temple was in dilapidated condition due to the age of the temple and the absence of priests. The priests left the temple during the great famine of 1732-33 for their survival/livelihood. Hence in 1769, the late Shri Vishnubhatla Yajnyanarayana Somayajulu re-consecrated the Janardhana Swamy temple and reinstated new priests to perform daily duties.
Since then, the temple had a few renovations until the major renovations that happened between August-2018 to March 2020 by the Vishnubhatla family. Late Shri Rama Mohan Rao Vishnubhatla who is a descendant of late Shri Vishnubhatla Yajnyanarayana Somayajulu was the single trustee who managed the recent renovations & re-consecrations in March 2020.
