Description

Sidheshwar Nath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This is the world’s largest Shiv Linga situated in Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh. It is at an attitude of 5754 ft above sea level and inside the dense forest of Kardo. This is a naturally formed Shivlinga which is 25 feet tall and 22 feet wide. 

There is constant flow of water of Ganga Lake from the base of huge linga along with some beautiful idols of Lord Ganesha & Goddess Parvati. The temple surroundings are picturesque and ideal for trekking.

Itihaas

This naturally formed Shivlinga was discovered in the dense forest by a wood cutter in July 2004. Earlier history of this site is still being studied.

Legend

The 17th chapter of the ninth khand/volume of the Shiva Purana mentions that the highest Shivalinga will be found at a place called Lingalaya, which will later became to be known as Arunachal. True to this prophecy, a holy Shivalinga was discovered by a woodcutter in Ziro Valley around July 2004.

Architecture Details

This is a naturally formed Shiv Linga. More construction work is being planned for a better temple structure.

Parampara

According to the locals, snakes worship this Shiva Linga every three years during Maha Shivaratri. Devotees visit this temple on Mondays and Sundays and in the holy month of Shravan.
